Pet Service @ St Mary's
It was wonderful to welcome some more of God's creatures (other than just humans) into Church for our first pet service. Every animal that attended received God's personal blessing from Revd Jane.
Of course, The Rectory Cat (aka Stowaway Squish) was the guest of honour, and we heard the story of God's provision during her unexpected trip to France. It may have been an amusing story, but it was really quite a worrying time, with temperatures inside the caravan (in which Squish had to be confined) reaching 51 degrees! It was touch and go, but along the way there were so many times when God seems to intervene.
The service ended with a specially adapted version of "he's got the whole world in his hands". God has the dogs and cats, hamsters and gerbils, fish and reptiles, rabbits and parrots, and all creatures.... in his hands. He's got his eyes on Squish the stowaway cat and he had his eyes on Squish in the van!
